If your starter is on its way out, you will notice an intermittent clicking noise and a delay in the vehicle actually starting. Eventually you hear a metallic screeching noise that is a sure sign that your starters Bendix mechanism, bearings or solenoid are Kaput. When ordering a new starter be sure to check the rubber cap on the terminal for cracks which allows moisture in and it is a good idea to check your starters hardware as well.

This is the latest supersession from the manufacturer. For the early air cooled car restorations, please note that the housing looks different than the original.
